Winter reproduction of bulbous early flowering plants
Hello dear gardeners, gardeners and gardeners! Well, it’s cold autumn outside. Our gardens have already fallen asleep with the beds. Nevertheless, we sometimes succumb to the temptations with you and acquire, acquire plants. Although planting in open ground is still too late. And it’s very difficult to keep many of these plants in winter in urban apartments.
And now I would like to tell you what all the same can be done with those bulbous early flowering crops that you acquired late, could not be planted and now you do not know what to do with them. And I will offer you to do simply the reproduction of these crops. Very well. There is a lot of free time ahead, so these bulbs can be easily managed and propagated, getting planting material an order of magnitude more.
So look what good daffodil bulbs are for sale. It is not clear how to get past them. You do not pass - you buy. Although the plant is not planted, the land is frozen. Hyacinths are wonderful bulbs. Yes, they cost 5 cents practically. How not to buy? Also buy, bring and suffer. In the refrigerator they die. If kept at room temperature, then, perhaps, they will even die.
Therefore, look, here you have acquired hyacinths. What do we do to breed? Well, firstly, we are acquiring a substrate in which reproduction will take place. It can be ordinary, the most ordinary, river, large in size sand. Plain river sand. Rinse it properly, maybe even boil it properly. Everything is great. Absolutely inert environment, from which plants can not be infected by bacteria or fungi, let alone viruses.
Well, with the onions we are doing as follows. We have to clean all the covering flakes. Look, I’m doing all this right with you, I didn’t prepare anything in advance.
We cover all these covering scales with these. But if there is suddenly some kind of scale, the patient, we remove it. Clear? We simply remove it completely to healthy scales. Here, look, the soft one got a little bit, but that's okay. As, in fact, in the kitchen, we are peeling onions, so it is with these onions that we are doing. Because their structure is exactly the same with onions.
A little bit we cut off the upper part. This can be done with a knife, you can make a pruner. So, look, please, this way. Once, cut off. Here is an even cut.
Next, we take some kind of board, some kind of stand and cut it, putting this bulb on the bottom, we cut it into 2 parts. Look, so evenly in 2 parts. Oh, how well it crunches, which means fresh, pretty. Like this.
See what happened with us? These are 2 halves. And from these two halves we make 4 parts, actually speaking, quarters.
Look what happened. Well, if there was a kidney in the central part, you can simply remove it. So this sector has turned out. And you will notice that there are several scales. If you want, you can divide this part of the bulb into 2 more parts. Having cut, for example, this bottom here in this way, look. That way - time.
It will turn out 2 sectors from you and just like that, take and share. Here is one sector of two scales, see, yes? And the second sector is smaller, but there are three scales. These parts will be propagated by us. What's next? Let’s dry for half an hour at room temperature.
Then we take the root stimulator - you know these drugs - and simply process the lower part, this piece, the bottom. And the bottom in the bulbs is nothing but a stalk. The scales are leaves, the bottom is a stalk. That's all. And propagation passes and roots are formed, as usual. We take with you. Well, that’s a bit too much here, see? A stimulant does not need so much. The stimulator is better to use the one whose filler is coal. One part was prepared, the other part prepared. Similar. So fast: one-time-one. Dipped, shook off. That's what we get.
It's okay, somewhere more, somewhere less. It’s not necessary that the mountains be easy somewhere. Then we take with you sphagnum moss or sand, as I said, river. Sphagnum moss should be slightly damp. So that he only chills his hands. Touch, feel that it is wet. And that's all, no longer needed. Impose in some tray. You can even in a plastic bag, but in a plastic bag it is not very convenient for them to develop further. That's how we put it. Sealed a little bit.
And then we put the bulbs down on the bottom in this moss. Squeeze a little. The next piece. The same thing, just compress a little bit.
That's it, now we cover the whole thing with a lid when we put a lot here. Take a plastic bag. So close tightly. And we put on the top shelf the kitchen, where the temperature is 20-25C, and maybe, if you bake the pies, it’s hotter. And literally in 2 weeks, in 3 weeks, you will already have a mass of small tiny bulbs growing. Then another month and a half they will increase. And when the roots appear on them, we can freely, boldly plant them in pots. And we can still a month and a half before planting already in the ground, we can hold and in this condition.
You can do the same with daffodils. Absolutely the same procedure, the same. You will receive a very large number of children, who in 2 years will bloom and form a whole field of these wonderful plants. My dears, do not waste your time! Do not ruin your bulbs that you accidentally bought. Engage in reproduction. I wish you great success, which will certainly come if you repeat everything as I prompt you.
