DIY Christmas garden decor
The trading industry today offers many ready-made options for decorating the local area for the New Year holidays - from luminous reindeer teams to snowmen to human height. But such options can not be called budget. Therefore, if you are not ready to spend significant funds on the purchase of garden decorations, you can decorate the garden, courtyard or balcony by the New Year with your own. In this article I propose to get acquainted with the simple ideas of the New Year's decor of the local area and garden, which will help you create a New Year's fairy tale.
New Year's compositions in suspensions for petunias
In the summer, suspensions are often placed on balconies, terraces and porches, in which gardeners plant bright annuals and, above all, colorful ampoule petunias. The material of the hanging baskets may vary. But the most stylish look is the suspension with a metal frame trimmed with rattan or lined with coconut coconut fibers.
In the cold season, empty hanging baskets have to be sad until spring. But why not use them to post New Year's compositions? The place of green plants in this case is occupied by spruce or pine branches, and bright flowers imitate multi-colored light bulbs of garland, toys and tinsel.
Cones, bright berries, fancifully curved branches and other natural materials will add an additional charm. By the way, such decorated pendants can also be used as a feeder. And feathered hearty, and joy for the eyes. True, in this case, the baskets should be decorated as naturally as possible so as not to frighten the birds with sparkling tinsel and garlands.
Supports for climbing plants are often made in the form of openwork metal cones, pyramids made of bamboo and other materials. If you use such supports in the New Year's design, the pyramidal shape of the obelisks will become an easily recognizable reference to the Christmas tree. An additional effect will be created by garlands, small Christmas toys, beads and other traditional jewelry.
It is absolutely not necessary to remove dried stalks of last year's vines from obelisks, because this will allow the Christmas trees to look more natural. If Santa Claus did not help with the appearance of real frost, then the stems can be decorated with artificial snow, which is sold in the form of a spray.
Such an improvised Christmas tree can be made as close to real as possible, using the obelisk as a frame on which branches of conifers are fixed. Such fir-trees look as natural as possible when they are placed in tubs with earth left over from last year's annual landings.
Decoration of garden trees
By purchasing a personal plot, many families among the many plantings, first of all, plan to plant any coniferous tree in front of the house or in the garden, which during the winter holidays will play the role of a Christmas tree. For this purpose, not only traditional pine and spruce can be used, which grows, although relatively slowly, but in adulthood they reach impressive size. Therefore, over the years, placing toys and garlands has become a complex process.
Currently, dwarf varieties are growing in popularity, which as adults do not exceed 3–4 meters. The only drawback of undersized conifers is their slow growth. Such Christmas trees can have both green and blue needles. But the vast majority of gardeners prefer to plant classic green coniferous trees as a New Year tree, so it is better to look at the varieties of ordinary spruce or Serbian spruce.
In addition to traditional pines and firs, Korean fir or Vicha fir is suitable for this role. Many owners of private houses do not burden themselves with the classification of conifers and successfully decorate thuja and junipers for the holiday.
When decorating cities, decorating live Christmas trees with a garland on New Year's holidays is a standard practice, which is repeated from year to year. However, it is believed that bright garlands confuse plant biorhythms, creating stress for a sleeping tree and confuse it. According to some gardeners, in the summer on the needles of the Christmas trees, which were decorated with a garland, you can notice small light marks. Nevertheless, winter illumination usually does not lead to the death of a tree. And still it is desirable to use a garland on conifers not round the clock, but in a sparing mode.
Note: When choosing a garland for the device of illumination in the open air, it is better to purchase light bulbs on batteries. At the same time, look for the product to be labeled “OUTDOOR” - suitable for outdoor use. Or "OUTDOOR INDOOR" - it is possible to use both in the house, and in the air.
Obeying the vagaries of nature, far from every New Year we meet with real winter weather. But if this time it was lucky, and December still pampered us with frost, then it is quite possible to make unusual ice decorations.
Making them trivial is easy. Any containers are useful for this, for example, plastic packaging from cakes and pastries or silicone baking dishes, baby molds, the imagination is not limited here. In the molds, it is necessary to pour ordinary tap water, which can be left transparent, or tinted with any water-soluble paints of various colors.
In transparent ice toys, thin branches of shrubs, artificial or natural berries (dog rose, viburnum, mountain ash, cranberries, etc.), spruce paws and other natural materials will look original. By the way, children can be involved in the manufacture of toys, and they will gladly join the magic of creativity. In these cases, it is easy to use ordinary plastic cups as a form in which small toys will be frozen, for example, figures from Kinder Surprise.
Any ropes tied in a ring must be half-immersed in the cups, so that it is convenient to hang them. Ready-made molds are taken out at night on the street, sent to the refrigerator or to another freezing room, and in the morning you can start decorating the territory.
Ice toys will look good not only on conifers, but also on any trees in the garden. In the absence of a garden, such decorations can be placed on an open balcony or put on a windowsill on the back of the window.
Glass lanterns with flickering candles inside look magical. But if you replace them with ordinary banks with New Year's decor, the result will be no worse. Theoretically, such jewelry is safe, but it is better not to leave them unattended for a long time. Therefore, in order to literally “not make games with fire”, instead of candles in jars and bottles, garlands on batteries are no less successfully placed.
I hope our ideas inspired you to be creative and soon your yard and garden will sparkle with new colors, charging everyone with a New Year's mood and joyful emotions.
