Opium for feline people is growing on my site. This is valerian. When it blooms, in any weather, cats and cats from all over the area will occupy my site. They sit and fool from their favorite smell.

I am not in a complaint: not only do I have no mice, but also neighbors.

But seriously, there is no need to introduce Valerian. It calms the central nervous system, helps with insomnia, neurosis, migraines, spasms of the gastrointestinal tract, grade I hypertension, enhances bile secretion.

I prepare the infusion by pouring 8-10 g of dry roots with a glass of magnetized cold water, I insist for a day and drink 1-2 tbsp. tablespoons 3-4 times a day half an hour before meals. I believe that during heat treatment, some of the essential oils are lost.

Raising valerian as a plant is not at all difficult. Seeds can be sown in spring, summer and autumn. The seeding rate is approximately the same as in carrots. Seeds close up to a depth of 2-3 cm. The row spacing - 40-50 cm. Before sowing 1 square. I bring in 1.5 buckets of humus, 15 g of ammonium nitrate, 20 g of potassium salt, 30 g of superphosphate and 4-5 glasses of ash. After sowing, I pack the bed with a roller and water it.

Shoots appear in a couple of weeks. After the plant has reached 5–7 cm, water them abundantly and loosen the soil to a depth of 5 cm. Then, at a distance of 30–40 cm from each other, I dig bottles filled with water with the neck down to the same depth. The soil will be sufficiently moist, although its top layer will remain dry. Once a week or two, I “charge” a new portion of water.

In the first year, valerian forms only a rosette of leaves, and blooms only in the second. If you sow it in the summer - then on the third.

If the seeds are not collected on time, they will be carried by the wind. I also use it. In the fall, I collect self-seeding and transfer these small plants to a well-fertilized place.

Mass ripening of valerian seeds occurs in mid-August. I cut the stems, bind them in snopiki and hang them in a well-ventilated place. After a week I shake the bunches. These seeds are the best. True, they lose their germination rather quickly, by the spring it drops to 50%, and by next fall - already by 10%.

I keep about a dozen plants for seeds, and the rest for raw materials (I do not give this blossom, I cut the stems).

I dig the roots no earlier than September 20, clean it from the ground and quickly rinse it in cold water. Then I lay out under a canopy and dry for a week in the shade. I store raw materials no longer than 3 years.

Astrobotany gives Valerian submission to Mercury, the god of trade and contacts. Accordingly, in medicine, it is more often used in collections with other herbs. Valerian strengthens and softens their effect at the same time. Mercury is also a big pedant. So it will be good for valerian if it is meticulously drunk every day for at least 3 weeks.
